Snorkeling Tour
Explore Belize´s Southern Cayes
PORT HONDURAS MARINE RESERVE
Set sail from the coastal town of Punta Gorda, venturing into the turquoise waters of southern Belize’s marine playground. As we navigate through a maze of mangrove-lined channels and sun-dappled cayes, anticipation mounts, and the salty breeze carries the promise of adventure on the horizon.
Arriving at our first destination, slip beneath the surface into a realm of kaleidoscopic beauty, where coral gardens teem with life and vibrant fish dart among the intricate formations. Snorkel alongside graceful sea turtles as they glide effortlessly through the crystal-clear waters, and marvel at the kaleidoscope of colors that adorn the underwater landscape.
Continuing our exploration, we’ll visit a series of remote cayes, each offering its own unique charm and allure. From the tranquil shores of the Snake Cayes to the pristine reefs of the Sapodilla Cayes, every stop promises a new discovery and an opportunity to connect with the natural wonders of Belize’s southern coast.
As the day unfolds, take time to relax on sun-kissed beaches, stroll along secluded shorelines, and savor a delicious picnic lunch prepared with locally sourced ingredients. Whether you’re a seasoned snorkeler or a first-time adventurer, our knowledgeable guides are on hand to ensure a safe and memorable experience, providing insights into the ecology and history of the region.
The word “Tikal” in Yucatec Maya divides the word “ti” meaning place of” and “k’al” meaning “spirits”. This renders such romantic translations as “place of spirits”. Towering above the rainforest, Tikal is the most magnificent of all Maya sites. The ruins, 68 km from Flores down a smooth paved road, are dominated by five enormous temples: steep-sided limestone pyramids that rise to more than 60 m above the forest floor.
Around them are thousands of other structures, many semi-strangled by giant roots still hidden beneath mounds of earth. The trees around the ruins are home to hundreds of species including howler and spider monkeys, toucans and parakeets. The sheer scale of the place is overwhelming, and its atmosphere
spellbinding. Overnight in San Ignacio (Martha’s Inn).
As the sun begins to dip below the horizon, we’ll reluctantly bid farewell to the enchanting cayes of southern Belize, but the memories of our snorkeling expedition will linger long after we return to shore—a testament to the beauty of Belize’s underwater world and the magic of exploration that awaits around every corner.
